LED Screen interaction!
Every client is very important to us, and we always trying to fulfil all the customer wishes to the best of our ability. Naturally, some events are bigger and some are smaller, depending on the client. Personally, I like the bigger events more, since they are usually more complicated and require more customization and I enjoy the challenge.
We did one big event just like this in February, an event for Deutsche Telekom, the company that organized Deutsche – On the rock agency.
What was so special about this event?
We did a special customized show with LED interaction.
How did everything start?
At first, we were thinking we should do our regular choreography and just extend the standard show from 7 to 10 dancers. We did some much larger scale events before and it’s always nice when the show has more dancers to stack the effects.
When we were discussing the event terms and conditions, the client asked me if there is a possibility to do some interactions with LED screens. I always like the opportunity to do something new, so I’ve sent him video from an event for Slovak EU presidency induction, where we had also done some interactions with LED screens. The client loved it and asked for this type of customized show for his event.
He picked a choreography and told us what he envisioned for the video content. The rest was all on us.
At first our choreographer needed to visualise how we can implement all the client’s requirements for content and combinate it with our show.
We needed to change our choreography a bit from the original that we offer, the one that the client picked. Once we had a solid image of what we wanted to do, we could start work on the video content. It took hours of work, because the video content was fully custom made – we couldn’t just buy it on the internet.
When the video content was ready, we could start do rehearsals with LED screen. Problem was that the screen that clients ordered was way too BIG (25 meters long and 5 meters high) We couldn’t find any such screen in Bratislava that we could just rent for rehearsals. We needed to compromise. Instead of LED screen we rented out a projector that could simulate the size of 25 meters length screen. Main disadvantage of the projector was that the ‘projection’ covered dancers body and therefore the image was not behind them. Another disadvantage was that the projector was shining into dancers’ eyes – which isn’t very comfortable when you’re dancing. All in all, it wasn’t perfect, but it worked okay for the rehearsals.

The projector did its job for what we needed, we made some final changes in the video content and sent it to the client.
Once we arrived to Bonn, in Germany, we could finally rehearse properly for the first time, to really try out the interaction with LED screens.
Because this was a big event and we had picked an exact time in a larger schedule we needed to work fast. We had synchronized show via MTC time code, which we received from the video technicians. Everything worked as it should (expect of such a big hall, where was event, so I needed to put 100 m cable to make shorter distance for Tron Dance controller that emit DMX signal to the suits receivers.

The organizations kindly gave us two slots for our rehearsals. Personally, I love events in Germany – they are always very well organized. When they tell you the event is at 2 pm, you can be sure al is ready to go exactly at 2pm. Everything is well planned and on time.
After the rehearsals were done, once both our clients and our team were happy with the performance, we could go back to the hotel to rest up. It was a very long day full of rehearsals, but all was well set up and working, ready for the event.
The event itself took place in the morning the day after, and everything worked just perfect – we could head back home with a good feeling of having done yet another successful event.
The client was so happy with our performance they gave even gave us a reference. What do you think about it?
‘The multivisual Tron Dance performance was the ultimate opening for Deutsche Telekom’s anual top management meeting. The Tron Dance team created an excellent customized show with 10 dancers interacting with taylor made video content on a 100 square meter LED screen on stage, integrating the brand‘s logo in a dynamic and unique way. The process of content creation with Tron Dance Team and us was very uncomplicated and focused on the best outcome for the experience of the participants. Even the integration of rehearsals and setup in such a complex event setup was easy and flexible. The interaction between the 8k content and dancers was extremely tight and the choreography took the participants on an emotional journey, creating the perfect warm up for a successful event.’
