In this blog, we are going to answer a question that is asked by many people via email: ‘Why we do not implement any lasers to our LED suits?’
I think everybody knows laser toys what parent are buying to the kids. A small device that can create just one laser beam light. These kinds of lasers are following the safety requirements of the European Union law.
But for our shows, this wouldn’t be a good idea, due it is just too simple and not strong enough to create any special wow effects. In order to create better effects like laser gloves, you need to have 5 + 5 laser beams. If you also add some more lasers on the suits (instead of eyes or just on the different part) you can create an amazing WoW factor in your show.
So, why the hell we do not use any?
The answer is very simple. Law. We are from Slovakia which is a part of The European Union. We have very strict law restrictions for using lasers. To be allowed to use lasers in public events you need a special certificate, which is valid just for one event. To get this certificate, you have to pay a fee to a special technician, who will come to your event and give you a stamp. A problem is, nobody would give you this stamp due to safety. You are not able to prevent the lasers on gloves (or on some other part of the suit) from hitting the eyes of the people in the audience. Meeting your eye witch laser can have various consequences. From feeling a short pain in your eye to getting blind and of course, we do not want to hurt our fans. Lasers hit my eye multiple times (for example Pro Light and Sound in China – where nobody needs any certificate) and it was never a good experience.
To sum it up, we do everything to make our show even more magnificent but the safety of our fans is more important for us and of course, we have to follow our law.
As a bonus, we will share with you one interesting costume which gave us an idea to write this blog:
