We have visited Eventbiz 2020 in Vienna, which is the main exhibition for the event industry in Austria. Here is our short reflection about what has been changed since the pandemic started.
Mask & face shields are obligatory
It is not a surprise for anyone that wearing a face mask or face shields are must in every indoor space and it wasn’t different at this exhibition either.
People gathering limits
This is very specific for every country, depends on their pandemic situation and measures, that are implemented by the local government. There was a limit of 1 000 people inside the building during our expo.
COVID seminars
There were many speakers, who were talking about the situation forecasts in the event industry and possible help provided by the government.
Public research
All visitors & exhibitors could participate in research about their opinions and perspective of the near future of the events.
Packed food
There wasn’t any opened buffet with fresh food (like last years in this expo), but all food was packed in launch boxes, just for safety reasons.
Positive mood
Event agencies, artists, event managers, just everyone who has got a business connection to the event industry were stopped from doing their work worldwide. It means that income for many people & companies just disappeared for months. At this time, it´s good to see that you are not alone in this situation, but there are tons of companies that have the same problem. When you can show to others your products and you see they are preparing for some event activity, it is always a good sign of a brighter future.
In the end, expos & fairs look very similar like we use to. There are higher hygienic rules for everyone (no handshaking), obligation to wear masks, that is standard nowadays almost everywhere. We will see after summer, if the event industry will start standing on its legs again.
